The Bazaar Framework
A Scalable UI-Framework for Destination Experiences.
A flexible digital ecosystem that began with The Bazaar and evolved into a scalable UI framework now powering destination experiences across Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. This system enables teams to spotlight new venues faster, increase brand visibility, and unlock early guest demand, all within the existing app ecosystem and without requiring major engineering investment.
Ecosystem Reach
Royal Caribbean’s digital ecosystem is one of the largest in travel. This framework is designed to tap into that scale, spotlighting new destinations and creating immediate impact at launch.
Laying The Foundations
The initiative began with The Bazaar, a new multi-venue experience launching on the Celebrity Xcel ship. The team created early mockups showing how this destination could realistically integrate into existing app structures like the planner, detail pages, and event cards using minimal effort and no new infrastructure.
This initial work defined Phase 1: lightweight entry points that reused existing UI patterns and were populated with Bazaar-specific content. It helped validate stakeholder interest early on while keeping engineering lift low and proving that a destination hub could live inside the app without requiring a full redesign.
Defining the Experience
To shape how guests first encountered The Bazaar, I designed a first-time user experience (FTUE) that acted as a short digital preface before entering the hub. It combined a short explainer and motion-rich visuals to quickly orient the guest and build anticipation. On return visits, the intro was skipped and guests were taken straight into the hub for a seamless experience.
Using AI to Accelerate and Reduce Cost
During early conversations with stakeholders, I was provided with a basic 2D layout, the only available artifact at the time. Traditionally, these kinds of detailed spatial maps are outsourced to third-party vendors, costing the business significant time and money.
Using AI tooling and refinement techniques, I generated a high-fidelity 3D interpretation of the space in just a few hours. While not production-ready, it served as a strong visual prototype to bring the spatial experience to life.

Beyond the Bazaar: Scaling What Works
The success of The Bazaar extended far beyond its original scope. What started as a design-led concept quickly became a foundational model for how we showcase destination experiences across the app. After surpassing stakeholder expectations and securing immediate funding, The Bazaar generated ongoing interest across leadership, marketing, and product teams.
Recognizing its potential, I worked closely with leadership to explore how this framework could adapt to a variety of destinations, both existing and in development. The result is a flexible UI system that brings clarity, efficiency, and consistency to how new destinations are launched.
